The statements (mainly in the four Gospels) which were confirmed, by two (or more)
witnesses, to be essential words of God.
001
Thou,
Bethlehem, art least among
the [people] of Judah.
Out of thee shall come [the Lord of hosts] that shall rule my people [of]
Israel.
And [the Lord of hosts] shall establish his kingdom
upon the throne of
David,
and upon peace, and to order it with judgment and to [order] it with justice, and
there shall be no end of the increase of [his] government from henceforth, even
for ever. The zeal of the
Lord
of hosts will perform this.
002
And therefore the Lord
himself shall give you a sign;
behold a virgin shall conceive and
shall bear and [shall]
bring forth a son and thou shalt
call his name JESUS
and shall call his name
Immanuel, and
circumcise on the eighth day.
And when the days of her purification
are accomplished, bring and offer two turtledoves, or two young pigeons. The
potter said, Give
me the price that was prised, thirty pieces of silver. So they took the
Lord for them.
003
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and
all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be [as] stubble: and the day that
cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither
root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the [Lord] of righteousness
arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and [ye shall] grow up as calves [in]
the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be [as] ashes under the
soles of your feet in the day that I shall do, saith the Lord of Hosts. Remember
ye the law, the statutes, and [the] judgments, of Moses my servant, which I commanded
unto him in Horeb for all [of] Israel. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before
the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD, And he shall turn the heart
of the fathers

004
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.
They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and
put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it giveth light to all of the [men]
that are in the light [in the] house. Let your light so shine before [all of the
men that are in the light in the house] that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father [that] is in heaven. And what ye hear in the ear in darkness, that speak
ye upon the housetops in light.
005
They hate me without
a cause. Make the heart of this people not
fat, and make their ears [not] heavy, and shut [not] their eyes; lest that they
see [not] with their eyes, and hear [not] with their ears, and understand [not]
with their heart, and [not] convert, and [not] be healed.
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing,
and their eyes they have closed lest they should see with their eyes and hear with
their ears and understand with their heart and should be converted and I should
heal them. And
he said, "Go and tell this people: "And hearing ye shall
indeed
hear,
but shall not understand; and
seeing ye shall indeed
see, but
[shall] not perceive:"
As said the prophet Esaias,
saying, "The voice of one crying in the
wilderness,
"Prepare ye the way of the Lord. Make his paths
straight." Every
valley shall be [made low] and every mountain and hill shall be [made] low and the
crooked shall be made straight and the rough [shall be
made straight]. Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom revealed
the arm of the Lord?
006
Mary was espoused to
Joseph, and she brought
forth her firstborn son and called his name Jesus.
007
Came
John preaching in the
wilderness the baptism of repentance
for the remission of sins
and saying, "Repent
ye, for
the kingdom
of heaven
is at
hand." And John had raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern
girdle about his
loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
John baptize in
Bethabara, beyond Jordan.
Then went out to him
Jerusalem,
and all Judaea, and
were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their
sins.
008
When many come to his baptism,
he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the
wrath to come?
John answered them, saying,
I have
indeed
baptized
you with water,
there standeth one among you whom ye know
not; he it is who
[is] mightier than I, the
latchet
of whose shoes
I am not worthy to unloose.
He cometh after me, and shall baptize
you with the Holy Ghost,
and with fire. Whose fan
is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his
floor, and will gather
the wheat into his garner;
but he will burn the chaff
with unquenchable fire.
009
Then cometh
Jesus from Galilee to be baptized
of John in Jordan. And
he
was baptized;
and
straightway up out of the water,
in the
spirit he saw the
heavens opened
and
the Holy
Ghost
descending
from heaven,
and
[the
Holy
Ghost] descended
like a dove upon him; And came a voice
from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I
am well pleased.
010
Jesus
was led of the Spirit into the wilderness
to be tempted of the devil
and he fasted forty days. He afterward hungered. And the
devil said to him, If thou be the Son of God, command that
stone be made bread. He answered, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. In the mouth of two or
three witnesses shall every word be established.
011
Then the
devil taketh him to the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the
temple, and said
unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down for it is written, He shall
give his angels charge
over thee, to keep thee and in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time
thou dash thy foot against
a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt
not tempt the Lord thy God.
012
The devil
taketh him up into an high mountain, sheweth him all the kingdoms of the
world, and said unto him, All the
glory of them will I give thee, if thou wilt worship me. Jesus
said unto him, Get thee hence,
Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou
serve. The devil departed him, and
angels ministered
unto him.
013
Now that John
was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee.
Jesus went thence into
Tyre and
Sidon. And a woman
came and she besought of him for her daughter, but he said unto her, It is not meet
to take the children's bread, and to cast it to
dogs. And she said unto
him, Lord, and yet be the saying, the dogs
eat of the table crumbs. And Jesus answered and said unto
her, Woman, a devil is out of thy daughter.
014
He went through the midst of
Galilee and came to
Capernaum and
taught on the sabbath
day. And in the
synagogue there
was a man with an unclean spirit, and cried out, Saying,
Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of
Nazareth? art
thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. And
Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out
of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, he came
out of him. And they were all amazed and spake among themselves, saying, What is
this? For with authority commandeth he the unclean spirits,
and they obey. But said, He casteth out devils by the prince
of the devils through
Beelzebub.
015
And Jesus
knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is
brought to desolation;
and a house divided against itself shall not stand: If Satan
be divided against himself, and Satan cast out
Satan, how shall his kingdom stand? And if I by
Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom
do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast
out devils by God, the kingdom of God is come unto you. I
say unto you, all sin and
blasphemy shall
be forgiven unto men; and whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it
shall be forgiven him; but blasphemy against the Holy
Ghost shall not be forgiven.
016
Ye serpents, for the tree is
known by his fruit, Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance,
And not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our
father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children
unto Abraham. Beware of false
prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly [they] are ravening
wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes of
thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so
every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil
fruit. For a
good
tree
cannot
bring forth evil
fruit; neither a corrupt
tree bring forth good fruit. Wherefore
by their fruits ye shall know them.
And now also the axe is
laid unto the root of the trees that
every tree which
bringeth not forth good fruit is therefore hewn down, and cast into the fire.
017
The law and the prophets until
John prophesied the kingdom.
And I say that ye
repent,
for the kingdom
of heaven
is nigh
at hand
to ye.
The people
said, What shall we do then?
Lay not up for yourselves
treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves [approach,]
break through and steal. Lay up for
yourselves
a
treasure
but
in heaven where thieves
do not approach, [break
through] nor steal:
neither
where
moth
[and
rust] doth
corrupt
and that ye
have [treasures
but
in heaven]
which [thieves
do] not [approach,
break through, nor steal],
and that [neither
moth] nor rust [doth
corrupt].
For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also. No servant can serve two masters: for either he will
hate the one, and love the other; or
else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and
mammon. The light
of the body is the eye. If thine eye be single, thy whole body shall therefore be
full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness.
If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness,
how great is that darkness!
018
Or
how
wilt
say thou to thy brother, Let
me pull out the mote of
thine eye,
and
behold, a beam is in thine
own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then
shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote
of
thy brother's eye.
019
And if thy hand, thy foot,
offend thee, cut
it off. It is better for thee to enter into life halt, maimed, than having two hands,
two feet, to be cast into
hell, into the fire that [is]
never quenched. And if thine eye
offend thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee to enter
into with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell
fire. Their worm dieth not, and [their] fire is not quenched. And
fear not them that kill the body, but fear him which hath power
to cast in hell.
020
And he said, Whereunto shall
the kingdom of God liken? Is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures
of meal, till the whole was leavened. Also, no man putteth a piece of new cloth
on an old garment, else the new piece to fill it up taketh from the old and the
rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine
burst the bottles and the wine is spilled, and the bottles shall perish. but new
wine must be put into new bottles and both are preserved.
021
And he spake, Behold, A sower
went out to sow. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and the fowls of the
air came and devoured it up. And some fell upon stony where it had not much
earth; and it sprung
up because it had no depth of earth.
And when the sun was up, it
was scorched and, because it had no root, it
but
withered away.
And some fell among
thorns; and sprang up, and the thorns choked it. And other fell on good ground and
sprang up and brought forth fruit; some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
022
It is like a grain
of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field, which is the least of
all seeds; but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs and becometh a great
tree so that the fowls of the air lodge in the branches of it. And he said, a man
sowed seed in the ground; and slept. First the blade sprung and grow up, but when
the seed brought forth fruit, then [he] put in the sickle because the harvest is
come. So is the kingdom. Saith he, The harvest truly is, but the workers are few.
Jew, Gentile, bond, free, male, female,
he that is not
with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me,
scattereth.
Pray ye therefore the
Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his
harvest. And he said, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And they were astonished
at his doctrine: for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the
scribes. They understood
not that he spake to them.
023
And
Simon's wife's mother
laid sick with a fever. When they besought him of her and he was come out of the
synagogue, and they were entered into the house of
Simon, he touched her hand. And the fever left her immediately
and she arose and ministered unto them. His fame spread abroad throughout all the
country and region in and round about Galilee. When the
sun set, they brought unto him all them that were possessed with
devils and that were sick with divers diseases and he healed
them. And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed.
And when they could not bring in, they let down to him.
024
And when Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of
the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. And certain of the
scribes, reasoning, said in themselves, This man speaketh
blasphemies. Who can forgive sins but
God only? And when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he said
unto them, Reason ye in your hearts
whether is easier to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say,
Arise and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on
earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the
sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go into thine
house. And immediately he arose before them, took up that, and departed to his house.
And they were all amazed and they glorified God, saying, We saw it.
And he cast out many
devils and suffered not to speak, for they knew him, and
healed that were sick.
025
And in the morning, when
it was day, Jesus went out and stood
on the shore by the sea of Galilee, and there he again prayed.
He saw James the son
of Zebedee and
John his brother with Zebedee in a
ship mending their nets,
for all night they took nothing. And he saith unto them, Cast the net. They cast
it into the sea and inclosed a great
multitude of fishes. They in the
two other little ships came, and when they were come, drew
up to land the net full and the net broke not.
026
And Jesus
said unto them, Come. Follow me and I will make you fishers of men. And they immediately
left the ship and their father and followed him. And walking
on from thence, he saw Simon
Peter and
Andrew his brother
in a ship casting a net into the sea for they were fishers.
He called them and they straightway forsook their nets
and followed him.
027
And he said unto them,
I preach to the cities also for therefore came I forth. And he entered into a
ship with his
disciples,
and he said unto them, Let us now go over unto the other side. And there arose a
great storm of wind on the sea so that the ship was filled
with the waves; but he was asleep. And they came to him and awoke him, saying, Master,
we perish. And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? Faith ye. Then he arose and
rebuked, and the winds and the sea ceased, and there was a great calm. And they
wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the winds
and the sea obey him?
028
And they came over to
the other side into the country of the
Gadarenes.
And when he was come, there met him out of the tombs a man with
devils. And he was bound with fetters and chains that he
often brake. When he saw Jesus, he cried out with a loud
voice and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou
Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (For he said, Unclean
spirit, come out of the man.)
029
And
Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said,
Legion many. And
besought him that he would not send them out. And there was there an herd of many
swine feeding on the mountain; And the devils besought him,
saying, Suffer us to enter into them. And he suffered them. And they went out and
entered into the swine and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea,
and were choked. And they that fed them fled and went and told it in the city, and
in the country. And they that saw it told them what befell to that was possessed
of the devils. And the whole went out to see what was done
and they saw him sitting, clothed, and also in his right mind and they were afraid.
And they came to Jesus and they besought him to depart out
of their coasts. And he went into the ship and the man besought
him that he might be with him. But Jesus saith unto him,
Go to thy home and shew them how great things God hath done. And he departed and
published how great things Jesus had done.
030
He say, When the unclean
spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places,
seeking rest, and findeth none, he saith, I will return to my house whence I came
out. And when he cometh, he findeth it
swept and
garnished.
Then goeth he, and taketh him seven other spirits more wicked
than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man
is worse than the first. And he left them, and departed to the other side.
031
And, behold, there came
Jairus, a ruler of
the synagogue. And he fell at his feet, and besought him,
saying, My daughter at the point of death. Come and lay thy hand on her, and she
shall live.
032
And
Jesus went, and people followed him and thronged him. And,
behold, a woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years and had spent all, that
she be healed of physicians, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment,
for she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And her blood immediately
stanched. And Jesus turned him about and said, Who touched?
And his disciples said, The multitude throng thee, and
sayest thou, Who touched me? And when he saw her, the woman came trembling, and
falling down before him, told him all. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good
comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
033
While he yet spake, there
came from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying,
Thy daughter is dead. Trouble thou the master any? Jesus
heard. He saith, Fear not; only believe. And when he came into the house of the
ruler, he said unto them that wept and wailed, Weep? The damsel is not dead, but
sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
He put them all out and he suffered
no man but the father and the mother of the maiden, save Peter,
and James and John.
And he took her by the hand, and said, Damsel, arise. And the maid
straightway arose. And they were astonished. And he charged
them that no man should know, and commanded, Give her to eat.
034
And he departed thence and was come
into his own country. And when he began to teach in the synagogue,
they were astonished and were offended at him, many saying,
Is not this the son of Joseph, the
carpenter?
Are not his mother, Mary, and brethren, James
and Joses and
Simon and
Judas, and his sisters,
Martha and
Mary called
Magdalene,
with us? Whence hath this man these things, this wisdom and mighty works?
Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but
in his own country, and in his own house because of their unbelief.
035
Then came his mother
and his brethren and standing without, sent unto him. The people said unto him,
Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring thee. He answered and
said, Who is my mother and my brethren? And he said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother and sister, and my
mother.
036
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of
mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house on
a rock. And the rain descended, And the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat
upon that house and it fell not for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish
man which built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods
came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell, and great was the
fall of it.
037
And he went forth and
saw Levi, sitting at
the receipt of custom,
and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. And sat with
publicans in
his house. The scribes and
Pharisees say,
His disciples eat and drink with
publicans and sinners.
Jesus said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician;
but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners
to repentance. Man have an hundred sheep, one of them stray.
Doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go that which is lost? And he find it,
he rejoiceth more than of the ninety and nine.
038
Then came
scribes and Pharisees of
Jerusalem, saying, Thy disciples,
unwashen hands, eat bread. Why
transgress
the tradition of the
elders? He answered and said unto them, Hypocrites. Well Esaias
prophesy of you, saying, Forasmuch as this people draweth nigh unto me with their
mouth, and do honoureth me with their lips, but have removed their heart far from
me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men, in vain do they worship
me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For God commanded, saying, Honour
thy father and mother. And, that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
But ye say, Shall say to his father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever thou mightest
be profited by me, he shall be free to do not for his father or his mother. Ye made
the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
039
He called the multitude,
and said unto them, Hear, and understand. Not that into defile a man; but which
come out of defile a man. The blind lead the blind, they both shall fall into the
ditch.
040
And they come and say
unto him, Why do the disciples of John
and of the Pharisees fast oft, but thy
disciples fast not? And Jesus
said unto them, Can the children of the
bridechamber
fast, while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will
come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast
in those days.
041
And his
disciples asked him this
parable. And
Jesus said, Are ye also without understanding? Do not ye
understand, that whatsoever entereth into the belly goeth out into the
draught? A good
man out of the good treasure of heart bringeth forth good, for of the abundance
of the heart the mouth speaketh. And an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth
forth evil, for out of the heart proceed evil thoughts: murders, adulteries, fornications,
thefts, blasphemies which cometh out of the heart and defile
the man.
042
And it came to pass on
the sabbath that he went through the
corn fields and his
disciples pluck the ears of corn.
And the Pharisees said, Why do that which is not lawful
on the sabbath day? And
Jesus said, Have ye not read what David
did, when was an hungred, and they were with him? How he went into the
house of
God, and did eat the
shewbread,
which is not lawful to eat but for the
priests, and gave
also to them were with him? And he said unto them, The Son of man is
Lord of the sabbath.
043
And he entered into the
synagogue and there was a man which had withered hand.
And the Pharisees watched him, whether
he would heal on the sabbath day, that
they might accuse him. And he saith to the man which had the withered hand, Stand
forth. Jesus said unto them, Is it lawful to do good on
the sabbath days, or to do evil? To
save life, or to destroy? Shall you fall into a pit on the sabbath
day and will not out? Is it lawful on the
sabbath day? They held their peace.
And look round about on them, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And
he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other. But they counsel
with madness against him, how they might destroy him. But Jesus
withdrew himself and great multitude followed him. And he went about the cities
and villages, teaching and preaching the
gospel of the kingdom
of God and healing in synagogues.
044
And when they were gone
over, they came into the land of
Gennesaret.
And when the men knew him, they that were sick in that region round about besought
him that they might touch but the border of his garment: and as many as touched
were made whole. And when Jesus had ended, the people were
astonished at his sayings. Jesus called his
disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the
multitude, because they now with me three days, and have nothing
to eat. I send them away fasting, and they will
faint by the way. And his
disciples say unto him, Whence bread in the
wilderness? And he asked them, How many loaves have ye?
And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
045
And he commanded the
multitude to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks,
and brake, and gave to his disciples, and the
disciples to the multitude. They did eat, and were filled:
and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. And they that eat
were four thousand.
046
And he sent away, and
came into the coasts. He departed privately by ship to
Bethsaida into
a desert place. And Jesus went up into a mountain, and sat
there with his disciples. And a great multitude followed
him from Jerusalem and Judaea and
Decapolis and
Tyre and Sidon beyond
Jordan. John in prison sent two of
his disciples and say unto him, Art thou he that should
come? or look we for another?
047
And there came a leper
saying, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus
put forth his hand, and touched him, say, I will; be thou clean. And immediately
leprosy was cleansed. And saith unto him, See thou say no man; but go thy way, shew
thyself to the priest, and offer
Moses commanded, for
a testimony unto them. And the people came unto him and he healed them all and they
glorified God.
048
Jesus
answered and said unto them, Go John things ye hear. The blind
see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised,
the gospel preached to the poor. And
blessed is he, whosoever shall not
be offended in me.
049
They departed and he
began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went
ye out into the wilderness to see? A
reed shaken with the
wind? But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they
are in kings. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and
more than a prophet. This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger
before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. I say unto you, Among
that are born of women there not a greater than John the
Baptist; he that
is least in the kingdom is greater than he.
050
Whereunto shall I liken
this generation? Like unto children sitting in the market and calling and saying,
We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye
have not. For John came neither eating nor drinking, and say,
He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking,
and say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of
publicans and sinners. But wisdom
is justified of her children.
051
And great multitude were
gathered unto him, and the whole multitude on the land. When he saw the multitude,
he was moved with compassion to them, because they were as sheep having no shepherd,
so that he went into a ship, and sat, and taught the people.
All things spake Jesus unto the multitude with
parables, and without a parable
spake he not unto them. And when the day was even, his
disciples came and said unto him, Send the multitude
away, that they may go into the towns and country round about and buy themselves
victuals for this is a desert place and the time is now past. But he said unto them,
Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, We have but five loaves, and two fishes.
Shall we go and buy? And he commanded all them to sit down by fifties on the grass
And they sat down in companies. He took the five loaves and the two fishes, and
looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake the loaves,
and gave them to his disciples, and the
disciples to set before the multitude. And they did all
eat, and were filled And they that eat were about five thousand men. And they took
up twelve baskets full of the fragments and the fishes that remained to them.
052
And
straightway Jesus constrained his
disciples to get into ship, and
to go before to the other side while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had
sent the multitudes away, he went into a mountain. He was alone to pray. And when
even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea for the
wind was contrary. And the fourth
watch of the night,
Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the
disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled
and cried out, It a spirit. But he say unto them, Be of good
cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And he come into the ship, and
the wind ceased.
053
Disciples had forgotten to take bread. He say, Take heed,
beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. And they reasoned
among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread. When
Jesus perceived, he say unto them, Why reason ye, because
ye have no bread? Do ye not remember the five loaves five thousand how many baskets
ye took up? the seven four thousand, how many baskets ye took up? How is it that
ye do not understand?
054
Jesus
entered into Capernaum and a certain servant of the
centurion was
sick. And when the centurion heard
Jesus was come, he went and came to Jesus and he besought
him, beseeching him that he would heal his son, saying, Lord,
I am not worthy that thou shouldest under my roof: speak but word and my servant
shall be healed for I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I
say to one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant,
Do this, and he doeth it.
055
When
Jesus heard, he marvelled and said unto the people, I say
unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Woe unto thee, Chorazin!
woe unto thee,
Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre
and Sidon, which have been done in you, they would have
repented long ago in
sackcloth and
ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and
Sidon at the judgment, than for you. And thou,
Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven,
shalt be brought down to hell.
056
Jesus
saith unto him, Go thy way. Now when the centurion saw
that was done unto his servant the selfsame hour, he believed, saying, Truly this
man was the Son of God.
057
Herod the
tetrarch heard of him and feared him and said, This is John
I beheaded. He is risen from the dead. For
Herod had laid hold on John, and bound
him in prison for
Herodias' sake, his brother
Philip's wife, for
John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have. When
Herod birthday was, the daughter
of Herodias danced and pleased Herod.
He promised to give her. And she said, Give me head of
John the Baptist in a
charger. And the
king was sorry. And for oath's sake, and which sat with him, he sent, and
beheaded John in the prison, And brought
his head in a charger, and gave it
to the damsel, and she to her mother. And his disciples
came, and took up.
058
Jesus
into the of
Caesarea Philippi
and he called unto him twelve
apostles:
Simon he named Peter and
Andrew his brother, the James of
Zebedee and John his brother,
Philip and
Bartholomew,
Matthew and
Thomas, the
James of
Alphaeus and
Thaddaeus,
Simon the
Canaanite and
Judas
Iscariot which
also betrayed him.
059
He asked his
disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I am? And they
said, John the Baptist; some,
Elias; and others,
one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And
Peter answereth and saith, Thou art the
Christ. He charged
them that they should tell no man. Jesus said, I thank thee,
O Father, Lord of heaven and
earth, thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent,
and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy
sight. All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son,
but the Father; the Father, save the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
Verily I say unto you, the very hairs of your head are all
numbered but there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they
see the kingdom of God come.
060
And he said unto them,
Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to them in
parables. I will open my mouth in parable:
I will utter dark sayings of old that seeing they see not; hearing they hear and
they not understand them.
061
Blessed are eyes see
for I tell you that many prophets have desired to see those things which ye see,
and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard
them. Take heed ye hear, for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; whosoever hath
not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
062
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father
which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in
earth as in heaven. Give us our daily
bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation; but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, for ever. Amen. Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you for every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
063
Or what man is there
of you, If his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will
he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto
your children: how much more shall your Father [that] is in
heaven give good things to them that ask him? Behold the fowls of the air: for
they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father
feedeth them. Are not two sparrows sold for one
farthing? And
are ye not much better than [many] of them? Fear not therefore: ye are of more value
than many sparrows.
064
Which of you, by taking
thought, can add one cubit
unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the
lilies of the field,
how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of
these.Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to
day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much
more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall
we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your Father
knoweth that ye have need of all these things. And he said unto Is not the life
more than meat, and the body [more] than raiment? Therefore I say unto you, take
no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, for body, what
ye shall put on for after all these things do the [sparrows] seek. But seek ye the
kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for
the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
065
Brother
sin against thee, forgive him seven times seven times. For if
ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But
if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
It [hath been said] that thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy; but
I say unto you, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, bless them that
curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you. It [hath
been said], An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth; but I say unto you, that
ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him
also the other; And if any man will sue thee at the law, and taketh away thy
cloke, let him have
thy coat also. And whosoever
shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee,
and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Agree with thine adversary
quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him lest at any time the adversary deliver
thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into
prison. I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence till thou hast paid
the uttermost. Judge not, that ye be not judged that ye may be the children of your
Father [that] is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the
good. Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect. For if ye
love them which love you, what have ye? For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall
be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Therefore
all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them:
for this is the law and the prophets.
066
When they by the way
side hear the parable of the word then cometh the sower
and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. They on stony, when they
hear the word, receive it with joy but have no root in self and dure for a while.
When tribulation
or persecution ariseth for the word they are offended in
time. And they that hear the word and which are among thorns, the cares of this
world and the deceitfulness of riches
choke the word and becometh unfruitful. But they that are on the good ground hear
the word and bring forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
067
And
Jesus said unto his disciples,
If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, father, mother and son or daughter,
and take up his cross and follow me. And whosoever hate not them and his cross after
me, he not loveth me. Whosoever shall confess me before men, him also I confess
before. But deny me before men, I but deny before. Whosoever shall be ashamed of
me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he come in the
glory of Father and holy angels. That I am come to peace on
earth? For the son against the father, the daughter against
her mother and the daughter in law against her mother in law. A man's foes shall
be of his own house. For what profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and
lose his own soul? or what
shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For whosoever will
save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same
shall save it.
068
And a certain said unto
him, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus
saith unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of
man hath not where to lay his head. And another said,
Lord, suffer unto me first to go and bury my father. But
Jesus said unto him, Follow me. Let the dead bury their
dead. Then Peter said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and
have followed thee. And Jesus said, Verily I say unto you,
There is no man that hath left house, or father, or mother, or brethren, or sisters,
or wife, or children, or lands for my sake but shall receive an hundredfold in this
time, and everlasting life, in the world to come that ye sit on thrones judging
the twelve tribes of Israel.
069
And came to him the sons
of Zebedee desiring. And he said, What? Saith unto him,
Grant that may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left. And when the
ten heard it, they with indignation. But Jesus said, Ye
know not what ye ask. Drink ye of the cup that I drink of, and be baptized with
the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We. And
Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of cup and with
the baptism that I am baptized with. But to sit on my right hand and on my left
is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. But
many that are the first shall be last; and last shall be first.
070
And after six
days, Jesus taketh
Peter, James, and
John and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart, and he was transfigured
before them, and his raiment was white. And, behold, there appeared unto them
Moses and Elias talking with him. And
Peter answered and said unto Jesus,
Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three
tabernacles;
one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for
Elias.
071
While he spake, behold,
a cloud came which overshadowed them there, and, behold, as they [were] overshadowed,
a voice came out of the cloud, and the voice [was] not a still voice and [the voice
was] saying, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him and fear
[him] and the cloud. Behold my servant whom I have chosen, in whom I put my
soul, and upon him my spirit. He shall
judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not cry nor his voice
hear in the street. A bruised reed shall he not break, and
smoking flax shall he not quench. He forth judgment unto and the
Gentiles shall trust in. I the Lord
have thee for a light of the Gentiles, And he said, It
is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the
Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the
earth.
072
And
Jesus answering said unto him, The Spirit
of the Lord is upon me, because the LORD
hath anointed me. He hath sent me to preach good tidings to the poor, to [preach]
liberty to the captives, to [preach] the acceptable year
of the Lord to the brokenhearted.
073
And when they had, they
saw no man, save Jesus only. And they were sore afraid.
And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them,
Tell no man til the Son of man risen from the dead. And they kept. And his
disciples asked him, saying, Why say the
scribes that Elias must first come?
And Jesus answered them, Elias come
first, and restore all things set at nought. But I say unto you that
Elias is come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they
listed.
074
And when they were come
down, he called his twelve disciples, and gave them power
over all unclean spirits and to heal disease. And sent them
forth, two and two, into city. And commanded them, Preach the kingdom. Heal the
sick. Take nothing for your journey, neither purse nor money, neither scrip nor
bread, neither two coats, nor staves, no shoes, for the labourer
is worthy of his.
075
And into whatsoever city
ye enter into an house, salute, Peace be house. And if your peace be upon it, there
abide till ye thence depart. And if it be not, turn to you. He that receiveth you,
receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me. And whosoever
shall not receive you nor hear you, when ye depart out of that city, shake the dust
off your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more
tolerable for Sodom
and Gomorrha
in the day of judgment, than for that city.
076
Behold, I send you forth
as sheep in the midst of wolves. And he say, Blessed are the poor in spirit for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be
comforted. And blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are
they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed
are ye when men shall revile you and persecute [you and] shall say all manner of
evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad for your reward
is great in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets [who]
were before you.
077
And they went, and preach,
and heal them that sick. And the apostles told him all they
had done. And John answered, Master, we saw one casting out
devils in thy name, and we forbad him, because he followeth
not us. Jesus said, Forbid him not for he that is not against
us is for.
078
And a man of the multitude
saying, Master, have compassion on my son. A spirit taketh
him into the fire, and into the water and he teareth him and he foameth. And I brought
him to thy disciples to cast him out; and it they could
not. Jesus answer and said, Bring him hither to me. And
Jesus rebuked the devil, and the
unclean spirit came out of him, and the child was cured.
079
The
disciples came apart, and asked Jesus,
Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus answer and said
unto them, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How
long shall I suffer you to [be] a [faithless and perverse generation]? If ye had
faith as [a] grain of mustard seed, ye [shall] say unto this mountain, Be thou by
[a grain of mustard seed] and it [shall be by a grain of mustard seed].
080
He began to shew his
disciples that the Son of man must suffer many things,
and be rejected of the elders, and chief priests and
scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third
day. And Jesus said unto them, The
Son of man into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and the third
day he shall rise. And they understood not that saying, but
feared to ask him.
081
And he came into the
coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan. The
Pharisees came to him, and tempting him, Is it lawful
for a man to put away his wife? And he answered and said unto them, He made them
male and female and blessed them. For this cause a man shall leave his father and
mother, and shall cleave to his wife: And they twain shall be one flesh. They are
therefore no more twain, but one flesh. What God hath joined together, let not man
put asunder. They say, Did Moses command to write of a divorcement,
and to put her away? Being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto
them, Because of the hardness of your heart. But from the beginning, whosoever shall
put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery. I say unto you, whosoever
shall put awayhis wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit
adultery: And whosoever shall marry her that is divorced, committeth adultery.
082
And as he and they came
to Jericho, blind
sat begging by the way side. A great multitude pass by. And when he heard that it
was Jesus of Nazareth, he cried
out, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David,
have mercy on me. And they rebuked him that he should hold his peace: but he cried
the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And
Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And he
said, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? Say unto him,
Lord, that I receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him,
Thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him.
083
He took the twelve, and
said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the
Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto
the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death and shall
deliver him to the Gentiles, and they shall mock, scourge,
spit on and crucify him, and the third day he shall rise again.
Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But he turned and
say, Peter, get thee behind me, Satan:
for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but that be of men. And
Jesus went before in the way going up to
Jerusalem.
084
And when they were come
nigh to Jerusalem, unto
Bethphage and
Bethany at the
mount of Olives, he
sent two of his disciples, saying unto them, Go into
the village over against you, and enter. Ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never
man sat. Loose him, and bring him. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye?, ye shall
say, The Lord hath need of him. And straightway
he will send him.
085
And they went their way,
and found as, and loose the colt. And loosing the colt, they there said unto them,
loose ye the colt? And they said as Jesus commanded, and
let go. And they brought him to Jesus, and cast their garments
on the colt; and they set Jesus thereon.
086
And a multitude spread
their garments in the way, others cut down branches of the trees, and strawed them
in the way. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the
city was moved and say, Who is this? And that went before, and that followed, cried,
saying, Hosanna!
Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the King,
the prophet Jesus of Nazareth,
the son of Joseph! Hosanna in the
highest! Daughter of Sion,
behold, thy King cometh unto thee meek and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal
of an ass.
087
And
Jesus beheld the rich cast into the treasury, and a certain
poor widow cast in two
mites. And he said, I say unto you that this poor widow hath cast more in than
all they. For all cast in of their abundance; but she of her want cast in all living
that she had. And Jesus went into the
temple and began to cast out all them that bought and sold in the
temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and
the seats of them that sold doves. And said unto them, it is written, My house shall
be called the house of prayer of all people, but ye have made it a den of thieves.
The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
088
And the chief
priests and the scribes hear all the
people and sought how they might destroy him. And the Pharisees
came tempting him, and seeking of him a sign from heaven.
And he said, this evil generation seek after a sign and there shall no sign be given
to it, but the sign of the prophet
Jonas. (Jonah was in
the belly three days and three nights.) The men of
Nineveh shall rise
in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it because they
repented at the preaching of Jonas;
and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. The queen of the
south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn for
she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom
of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than
Solomon is here.
089
And they send unto him
the Pharisees and the Herodians
that they might entangle him in his words. And they say unto him, Master, we know
that thou art true, and but teachest the way of God in truth, for thou regardest
not the person of men, neither carest for any man. Is it lawful to give tribute
unto Caesar, or not?
But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Shew me
a penny. And they brought
it unto him. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And
they said, Caesar's. And he said unto them, Render therefore
unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's;
and unto God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
090
Then came to him the
Sadducees,
which say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him, saying, Master,
Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, having no children,
that his brother should take his wife, marry, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, died, and left no seed.
And the second took her, and died, and left no seed. And the third also. And likewise
the seven. And last of all the woman also died. Therefore in the resurrection whose
wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife. And
Jesus answering said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God for in the resurrection from the dead, they shall
neither marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as the
angels in heaven. As touching the resurrection of the
dead, have ye not read that God at the bush spoke unto Moses,
saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham,
and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob
and Moses. And He is not the
God of
the dead, but the God of the living children of Moses.
091
And
Jesus said unto them, How say they that
Christ is the Son of David?
David himself said, The LORD said unto
my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies
thy footstool. David while in spirit
call him Lord. How then is he his son? And not any durst ask
him that question.
092
And they brought little
children unto him, that he should touch them, and his disciples
rebuked them. And Jesus called a child unto him, and he
took him up in his arms. But Jesus said, Suffer little children
to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily
I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child
shall not enter therein. And Whosoever shall receive one such child in my name receiveth
me, and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me. Whosoever shall give
a cup of water to drink in name, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
Whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe
in me, it were better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about his neck, and that he were cast into the sea.
Offences come;
but woe unto whom that it come by. And he set him in the midst of them, and laid
his hands on them, and blessed.
093
And as
Jesus went out of the temple and
he went into Bethany, his disciples
spake to him of the temple buildings and stones. And
Jesus said unto, See these things. There shall not be left
one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount
of Olives, saying privately to him, Tell us, when shall these
things be? and what shall be the sign these things come?
094
The disciple is not above
his master, neither the servant his lord; be as his master.
The brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children
shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. But take
heed to yourselves for they shall deliver you up to councils and scourge you in
the synagogues. And ye shall be hated of all for my name's
sake. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony
against them. But when they deliver you up, take no thought [for] what ye shall
speak. [For] what ye [shall speak] shall be given you in that hour. For it is not
ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost shall speak. But he that
shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
095
When ye shall see the
abomination
of desolation (spoken of by
Daniel the prophet)
stand (that readeth, let him understand), then let them that be in
Judaea flee to the mountains. And let him which is on the
housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house. And let him that is in
the field not turn back to take his clothes. But woe unto them that are with child,
and to them that give suck, in those days! For [there] shall
be [the] great [woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in
those days] Pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. For [there] shall be
[the] great [woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those
days], such as was not since the beginning to this time, neither shall be. And except
those days shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the
elect's sake, days shortened.
096
Those
days after tribulation, the sun
shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall
from heaven, and the powers of heaven
shall be shaken. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled:
for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet for nation shall
rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes
and famines and pestilences, in divers places. These are the beginning of sorrows.
097
Now learn a
parable of the fig tree. When her branch is yet tender,
and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh. So ye in like manner, when
ye shall see these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. And
Jesus answered and said, Take heed that man not deceive
you, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ;
and shall deceive many.
098
As the
days of
Noe, so shall also be in
the days of the Son of man. They were eating and drinking,
marry, until the day that Noe entered into
the ark, and the flood
came, and them all. And he shall send his angels, and shall
gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of
heaven. Two grinding, the one shall be taken, and the other
left. Wheresoever the [eagle] is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
099
Know this, that if the
goodman of the house had known what watch the thief would
come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house
to be broken. Therefore, can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods,
except he first bind the strong man, and then he will spoil his house? Therefore
take heed. Watch for ye know not hour come. Be ye ready for
the Son of man also cometh an hour ye think not, as a man, who took his journey
into a far country, called his servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

Came saying,
Lord, thou gained five. And he said unto him, Well done, thou
good servant. Thou hast been faithful over things. Came saying,
Lord, thou art an austere man. Thou not sow, thou reap. I
feared thee. Behold, I have thy. And said unto him, Thou wicked servant, thou knewest
that I sow not, I reap and gather all. Wherefore gave not thou my money to the bank,
then at my coming I should have mine own with usury? And I said take thou that
talent from him,
and give thou it [and] ten more unto him which hath gained by five [and] them that
know [him] that have also [gained by five]. With measure ye mete, it shall be measured
to you. And the Lord said unto them, For unto every one that hath gained, shall
be given precept upon precept, [here a little, there a little]; from him that hath
not [meted], shall be taken away even that he hath, from here a little, [from]
there a little.
101
Who then is faithful
and wise, whom his lord made ruler over his household, to
give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his
lord when he cometh shall find so doing. I say unto you, that
he shall make him ruler over all. But and if that servant say in his heart, My
lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat and to eat
and drink drunken, the lord of that servant shall come in
a day when he looketh not for him, and an hour he is not aware,
and shall cut him sunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. And that
all the prophets shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down in the kingdom
of the God of heaven with Abraham, and with
Isaac, and with Jacob [and] shall go
no more out. Then shall take and [shall] be cast out, into the outer darkness and
the door shut, and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, saying,
Lord, Lord, open to us, and say unto
you, You know me not. Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful
works? Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom
of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father [that] is in heaven. And then
I will profess unto them, You never knew me. Depart from me, all ye that [are] workers
of iniquity.
102
Think not that I am come to destroy the law,
or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil from the law. Verily I
say unto you, That this generation shall not pass away, till all these things be
fulfilled. For heaven and earth shall
pass away, but my words shall not pass [away] one jot or one
tittle; [and shall]
be fulfilled in all these things. I have told you the law before
heaven and earth pass. And then shall
they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. For as
the lightning shineth so shall also the Son of man be. But of that
day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the
angels but Father. Watch ye therefore, and pray, for ye
know neither the day nor see the hour it is wherein the Son
of man come.
103
In the morning he hungered
and saw a fig tree and he came to it. And when he found nothing but leaves, he said
unto it, No fruit thee henceforward for ever. The fig tree dried up. The
disciples say, The fig tree is withered away!
Jesus answer and said unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Have but faith, and ye shall doubt not. Ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall. Whatsoever things that ye shall
pray, believe in and ask for, ye shall receive.
104
Jesus
came into the temple, and Jesus taught
them in the temple by parables. A
certain made a dinner and sent his servant named
Lazarus to them
that were bidden, and he said, Fat oxen killed, all things are ready, come. And
they come not. Then said he to his servant, Go into the highways and bid many.
105
And, as he taught in
the temple, the chief priests, and
the scribes, and the elders of the people came unto him and
say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee this
authority? And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also
will ask you one thing. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these
things. The baptism of John, was it from
heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying,
If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why did ye not
then believe him? But if we shall say, Of men; fear the people; for they all that
John was a prophet. And they answered and said unto
Jesus, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell
I you by what authority I do these things.
106
Began he to speak parable,
A certain man planted a vineyard and he [planted] it with the choicest vine. I will
sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved, touching his vineyard. and my well-beloved
hath digged a winepress therein the midst of [it] and also built a tower and a hedge
about it, in [a] very fruitful hill and gathered out the stones thereof, and let
it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country and he looked that it should bring
forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. And at the season he sent a servant
to the husbandmen, that they might receive of the fruit of the vineyard. And the
husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. And again he sent another servant
and they shamefully sent him away. And again he sent, and they cast stones and wounded
him and killed him. Last he sent his beloved son unto them, saying, They will reverence
my son. But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is
the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance be ours. And they caught him,
and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What shall therefore the
lord of the vineyard do unto them when he will come? And they
say, Destroy those husbandmen and will give the vineyard unto others. And
Jesus saith, Have ye not read scripture, The stone which
the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the
corner: This is the Lord's doing, and
it is marvellous in our eyes? Whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken:
but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And the chief
priests sought to lay hold on him for they perceived that
he had spoken the parable against them, but they feared
the people.
107
Then he said to his
disciples and all the multitude, Beware of the
scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love greetings
in the markets, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
and the uppermost rooms at feasts, which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence
make long prayers. Woe unto you. Ye shall receive greater damnation for lade men
burdens grievous to be borne, and ye not with one fingers.
108
Woe unto you for ye hindered
them that were entering in and ye yourselves not enter in. Woe unto you
Pharisees, for ye tithe mint and not judgment. These ought
ye to have done, and to leave the other undone. Ye Pharisees
make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but full within. Woe unto you.
Ye build the sepulchres of the prophets. Ye witness that ye killed them. Verily
I say unto you, I shall therefore send prophets and some of them you shall persecute
and kill that all of the blood shed between the temple and
the altar, and from the blood of Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias,
may persecute this generation.
109
A voice was heard in
Ramah, lamentation
and weeping, Rachel
weeping for her children would not be comforted, because they are not. O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which
killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would
I have gathered thy children together as a hen gathereth her chickens under her
wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you
desolate, and I say unto you, Ye shall not see me till
ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
And he departed thence.
110
One asked him, Which
is the great commandment in of all the law? Jesus answer
and said unto him, Hear, O Israel, The
Lord our God is one Lord and rested. The
sabbath day, thou shalt love the
Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This
is the first commandment, and the second is like: Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself.
111
And one came and asked
him, Good Master, what shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life? And
Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is
none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Thou shalt honour
thy father and thy mother and love thy neighbour as thyself. Do not commit adultery,
Do not kill, Do not steal, Defraud not, Do not bear false witness. And he said unto
him, All these have I kept from my youth up. Jesus said
unto him, One thing thou yet lackest. Go sell that thou hast, and give to the poor,
and come and follow me, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven.
When he heard, he was sorrowful and went away, for he had great possessions.
112
And
Jesus said unto his disciples,
How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God. And again
I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than
for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And he said unto them,
Strait is the gate,
and narrow is [the] way which leads unto the life of God, and few there be [that]
find it. Enter ye in at the strait gate for wide is the gate, and broad is the way
that leadeth to destruction, and many there be [that] go in thereat, because [many
there be] that trust in riches. And when his disciples
heard it, they were astonished, saying, Who then can be saved?
Jesus beheld them and said, With men is impossible; but
with God all things are possible.
113
After two
days, the feast of the
passover and
unleavened bread. And the chief priests and the
scribes sought how they might take Jesus
and kill him. But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there
be an uproar of the people, for they feared the people.
114
Then the first
day of unleavened bread, when killed the
passover, disciples came and
they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that may eat the
passover? And he said unto them, Go ye into the city. There
you shall meet a man bearing a pitcher. Follow him. And where he shall go in, say
ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber where
I shall eat the passover with my
disciples? And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished. There make ready.
And he sent. And disciples went and found as he had said
unto them; and they made ready the passover.
115
And when the even now
was, Jesus come in to Bethany. He sat down in the house
of Simon the leper with the twelve and his sisters; but
Martha served. And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say
unto you that one of you shall betray me. The Son of man indeed goeth as it is written
of him: "Which eateth bread with me, hath lifted up his heel against me." But woe
unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed. It had been good for that man
if he had not been born. And they were sorrowful, and began one to say unto him,
Is it I? And he answered and said, That dippeth with me in the dish.
116
As he sat at meat there
came a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment of
spikenard,
and poured it on his head and anointed with oil and wiped
to his feet with her hair. They had indignation, saying, Why was this waste? For
ointment might have been sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor.
Jesus said, Why trouble ye the woman? She hath wrought a
good work on me. Let her alone. Ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have
not always. She hath oint my body, she hath done this for my burying. Verily I say
unto you, Wheresoever the whole world this gospel shall be
preached, this that this woman hath done shall also be, for a memorial of her.
117
Among them there disputed
which of them should be the greatest. But Jesus called them
unto him, and said, Ye know that the kings of the Gentiles
exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them;
but it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, be your
minister, and whosoever will be chief, be servant. Even the Son of man came not
to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
118
And as they eat,
Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to
them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks,
and gave it to them, saying, All drink of it. This is my blood of the new testament,
which is shed for many. I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine,
until that day I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
119
And when they had sung
an hymn, they went out
into the mount of Olives. Jesus saith
unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night:
for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
But after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
Peter said unto him, though all shall be
offended, yet will not I. Jesus said
unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, this night,
before the cock crow,
thou shalt deny me thrice. He said unto him, should I die with thee, I will not
deny thee. Likewise also said all.
120
And cometh to a place,
Gethsemane,
and saith to disciples, Sit ye here, while I pray. And
he taketh with him Peter, James and
John, and began to be very heavy, and saith unto them, My
soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and
watch. And he went a little and fell and prayed, saying, Father,
if it be possible remove, this cup pass from me. Nevertheless not I my will but
thou wilt. And he cometh to disciples, and findeth them
sleeping , and saith unto Peter, Sleep? Could not
watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest
ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but
the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying the same
words.
121
And
Satan entered into Judas Iscariot.
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve,
went unto the chief priests and he sought how he might betray
him, and opportunity to betray him unto them. And they were glad, and covenanted
with him, and they promised to give him money.
122
And he found them asleep
again: for their eyes were heavy, and saith unto them, Behold, the hour is come.
The Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Sleep
on now, and take your rest. And he cometh the third time, saying, Rise up, let us
go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. And while he yet spake, behold,
Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude
with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the elders.
He that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same
is he; take him. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said,
Master; and kissed him. Jesus said unto him, Thou.
123
And they laid hands on
Jesus, and took him. And one of them drew a sword, and smote
a servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up thy sword.
Jesus said unto the multitude, Are ye come out as against
a thief with swords and staves to take me? I was daily with you teaching in the
temple, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
They all forsook him, and fled.
124
Then they took
Jesus and led him away to
Caiaphas, the
high priest, and the scribes and the
elders. And men followed him, and Peter followed him afar
off unto the palace of the high priest and went in, and sat
with the servants. And they had a fire, and Peter warmed
himself. And as Peter sat in the palace, a maid came and
looked upon him, and said, Thou also wast with Jesus of
Nazareth. But he denied, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
And another maid saw him, and said to them that stood there, This man also of them.
And again he denied, I am not, I know not. And after, they that stood by said to
Peter, Surely thou art also one of them with him, thou art
a Galilaean for thy speech. Then he began to curse and to
swear, saying, Man, I know not. And immediately the cock crew.
And when Peter remembered the word of
Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny
me thrice, Peter went out into the porch, and he wept bitterly.
125
And the chief
priests, and elders, and all the council, sought witness
against Jesus, to put him to death, and found none. And
many came saying false witness against him, and said, Destroy the
temple, and I build in three days. And
the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou
nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? But Jesus
held his peace. And then the high priest asked him, Art thou
the Christ, the Son of God? Tell us. And
Jesus said unto them, I am; and I said, Ye are gods. Hereafter
ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the
clouds of heaven. And they shall look upon him whom they
pierced.
126
Then the high
priest rent his clothes, saying, Ye have heard his
blasphemy: what think ye? And they said, What need we any
further witnesses? Guilty of death. And they spit on his face, and struck him, and
buffeted him, and blindfolded him and smote him with the palms of their hands, saying,
Prophesy, thou Jesus, who is that smote thee?
127
When the morning, the
chief priests and the whole council of the elders bound him
and they led him away, and they delivered him to
Pilate. And the chief
priests accused him; but he answered nothing. Then
Pilate marvelled and said unto him, How many things they
witness against thee! Answer thou? But Jesus answered him
nothing. And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou
Jesus, the King of the Jews? And Jesus
answered and said unto him, Thou sayest it. When he was set down in the judgment
seat, Pilate said to the chief priests,
I find no fault in him. For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
128
Now at that feast, he
release one prisoner unto them, the whom they desired. Pilate
saith unto them, Will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
But the chief priests and all the people cried out, saying,
Away with this man, and release
Barabbas (who
murder in the insurrection). Pilate saith unto them, What
shall I do then Jesus? They cried, Crucify him. And
Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? Behold,
I find no fault in him. They cried out the more, saying, Crucify him. Crucify him.
And then Pilate released Barabbas
unto them. And when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered
him to be crucified.
129
Then the soldiers took
Jesus and led him away into the hall. And they put on him
a purple robe and platted a crown of thorns and put it on his
head, And they smote him on the head with a
reed and the whole band spit upon him and they bow knee and
mocked him, Hail, King of the Jews!
130
And after they had mocked
him, they took off the purple robe from him, and put his own raiment on him, and
led him away to crucify him. And as they came out, they compel one
Simon a
Cyrenian, coming
out of the country, to bear his cross. And when they were come unto the place called
Golgotha, which
is the place of a skull,
they gave him to drink mingled with vinegar and he received not. And it was the
third hour, and they crucified him and two thieves crucify there with him, one on
the right hand, and the other on the left. When they had crucified
Jesus, they parted his garments, casting lots: that the
scripture might be fulfilled which saith, They parted my garments among them, and
upon my vesture they did cast lots, and he was numbered with the
transgressors. And a title of his accusation was written
in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin: THIS IS JESUS THE KING
OF THE JEWS, and the superscription was over him, and they watched
him.
131
And they that passed
by reviled him, wagging their heads and saying, If thou be
the King of the Jews that destroyest the temple, and buildest
it in three days, save thyself, come thou down from the cross.
Likewise the chief priests with the scribes
also said mocking, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the
Christ of God, the King of Israel,
let him now come down from the cross, we believe.
132
Now it was about
the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And
the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eli,
Eli, lama sabachthani? which, being interpreted, is to say, My God, my God,
why hast thou forsaken me? And one ran and filled a spunge of vinegar, and put it
on a reed, and gave him to drink. Some of them that stood,
when they heard, said, Calleth Elias. Let be. Let us see whether
Elias will come to him. And when Jesus
had cried with a loud voice, he said, Into thine hand I commit my
spirit. And he gave up the ghost.
And behold, the veil
of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom,
and it was rent by [the ghost; the ghost] did [rend it].
133
And the many women, which
followed Jesus from Galilee and
ministered unto him (among whom was Mary
Magdalene and Mary the mother of
James and Joses), were there, beholding
afar off. And when the even was come, because it was the
preparation
that was before the sabbath day, there
came a man named Joseph of
Arimathaea,
a counsellor
of the Jews who himself was a disciple of Jesus and also
waited for the kingdom of God, and he went unto Pilate, and
begged the body of Jesus and Pilate
gave the body to him. And he took the body down, and wrapped it in linen cloth and
laid it in a new sepulchre, which was hewn out in rock, wherein never man was laid,
and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre. And Mary
Magdalene and Mary beheld the sepulchre
was laid.
134
And very early in the
morning the first day of the week, came Mary
Magdalene and Mary unto the sepulchre,
they bringing the spices. And they see the stone rolled away from the sepulchre,
and enter in, and two men sitting in white garment and said unto them, Ye seek
Jesus which was crucified. He is not here where they laid
him. He is risen. Go tell his disciples that he goeth
before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him. And they
departed quickly from the sepulchre and Mary
Magdalene told these things unto the eleven
disciples, and they believed not. And
Peter ran to the sepulchre, and stooping down, he beheld
the linen clothes.
135
And the same
day when they were assembled, Jesus
stood in the midst. And when they saw him, they were amazed, and they were afraid.
And saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them
his hands. And Jesus saith unto them, Have ye any meat?
Then Jesus went into Galilee.
The statements which were confirmed to be essential words of God (mainly from the four Gospels) by two (or more) witnesses are shown above. The details of any of the above paragraphs are available here, or by clicking on the number of a particular paragraph above.
Additional essential words of God were later discovered to have been confirmed, to be essential words, by other portions of the Bible. The first group of additional essential words of God were discovered by comparing the Book of Revelation with other books in the Bible, in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament. The essential words of God, which were discovered by use of the Book of Revelation, are available here.
Even yet more additional essential words of God were discovered by comparing the Book of Mormon to the Bible. This further additional group of essential words is available here.
Subsequently, yet more additional essential words of God are being discovered in the Old Testament by comparing the books in the New Testament with the books in the Old Testament. Still more additional essential words of God are being discovered by comparing the books of the Old Testament with other books of the Old Testament which other books were by a different author. This additional group of essential words (to the extent now discovered) is available here.
This page (and all other portions of the essential word of God) consists of riddles and puzzles which are described here.
This document contains this and two other sections. The other sections are the Preface and the Appendixes which includes a complete list of all pages for the convenience of returning visitors who wish to quickly locate a particular page, or for the convenience of those visitors who wish to peruse the site in their own manner.
