Herod the tetrarch heard of him and feared him and said, This is John I beheaded. He is risen from the dead. For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife, for John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have. When Herod birthday was, the daughter of Herodias danced and pleased Herod. He promised to give her. And she said, Give me head of John the Baptist in a charger. And the king was sorry. And for oath's sake, and which sat with him, he sent, and beheaded John in the prison, And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel, and she to her mother. And his disciples came, and took up.
