And after they had mocked him,
they took off the purple robe from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led
him away to crucify him. And as they came out, they compel one Simon a Cyrenian,
coming out of the country, to bear his cross. And when they were come unto the
place called Golgotha, which is the place of a skull, they gave him to drink
mingled with vinegar and he received not. And it was the third hour, and they
crucified him and two thieves crucify there with him, one on the right hand, and
the other on the left. When they had crucified Jesus, they parted his garments,
casting lots: that the scripture might be fulfilled which saith, They parted my
garments among them, and upon my vesture they did cast lots, and he was numbered
with the transgressors. And a title of his accusation was written in Hebrew, and
Greek, and Latin: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS, and the superscription was
over him, and they watched him.
