Now it was about the sixth hour,
and there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And the ninth
hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?
which, being interpreted, is to
say,
My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me? And one
ran and filled a spunge of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
Some of them that stood, when they heard, said, Calleth Elias. Let be. Let us
see whether Elias will come to him. And when Jesus had cried with a
loud voice, he said,
Into thine hand I commit my spirit.
And he gave up
the ghost.
And
behold, the veil of the
temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom,
and it was
rent
by [the ghost; the ghost]
did [rend it].
