Comment:
Regardless of whether the implied assertion, that the original Ark of the Covenant was in the Temple of Herod at Jerusalem during the time of the events which are recorded in the New Testament, was intentionally implied or not, the implied assertion is contradicted by the testimony which is confirmed by the comparison of 2 Kings 24:13 to the combination of 2 Chronicles 36:7 and 36:18. The result of the comparison reads, in part, "Nebuchadnezzar carried all the treasures of the house of the LORD ..." The emphatic phrase "all the treasures" would necessarily include the original Ark of the Covenant having been carried from the Temple of Solomon to Babylon. No mention was ever made of any subsequent location for the original Ark of the Covenant. The suspicion therefore arises that if there was an Ark of the Covenant in the Temple of Herod, it was not the original, merely a copy.
